Stat of the Week: K&B trends

NPD Group sees sales shifting within the kitchen-and-bath category.
4/26/2022

STAT: Kitchen and bath home improvements are generally steady compared to a year ago despite a 15% increase in average selling price, but the consumer’s focus within may have shifted. Declines in unit sales of toilets and toilet seats have given way to growth in vanity tops, and products for the shower, and mud or laundry room.

ANALYSIS:  “Early in the pandemic, the home improvement focus was on the outdoors and secondary or guest bathrooms," said Joe Derochowski, home industry advisor at NPD Group. “Now we have shifted more to indoor remodels which include primary bathrooms and some of the auxiliary living spaces that were in the ‘someday’ category pre-pandemic, like mudrooms.”
