Universal Supply, an eight-unit chain of roofing, siding and other building materials, has been sold to LBM Holdings for an undisclosed sum. Stock Building Supply purchased the South Jersey dealer from the Umosella family in 2006. At the time, the 40-year-old company had annual sales of $142.5 million, mostly in roofing, siding, windows and doors.

Jeff Umosella will continue to lead the company as president and part owner. Based in Hammonton, N.J., the company serves southern and central Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware.

“This is one of the most operationally sound groups we have met,” said Jason Fraler, an associate with US LBM Holdings, which is now comprised of 23 locations in Wisconsin, Central New York and Connecticut. All are former Stock units.

Stock Building Supply, owned by the Gores Group, continues to operate out of 19 markets in the United States.
