  • Menards plans first store in Kentucky

    A Menards store planned near The Heartlands subdivision of Owensboro,  Ky., would be the first Menards store to open in Kentucky.

    Representatives from Eau Claire, Wis.-based Menards met with home owners this week, according to the Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer. Tom O'Neil, from Menards real estate division, told the newspaper: "As the overall plan evolves, we'll be able to submit the development plan, and at that point we can show the site plan to the homeowners."

  • Menards opens another unit in Minnesota

    Home improvement chain Menards continued its Midwest expansion with a March 28 soft opening in Marshall, a town in southwestern Minnesota, according to an article in the Marshall Independent. The grand opening is scheduled for this week. 

    Site preparation and construction for the store had been going on since August 2008, the article said.

  • New private-label circ saw at Menards

    MasterForce, the private-label line of power tools made for Menards, has announced a new offering in the circular saw category: a 6-1/2-in. model powered by either an 18-volt lithium ion or NiCad battery. The cordless saw delivers 4,500 rpms, according to its manufacturer, and contains a bevel adjustment that tilts the blade from 0 to 45 degrees.

    Most saws are equipped with a general purpose 18-to-24-tooth, carbide-tipped blade, and incorporate an LED work light to help illuminate the work surface.

  • Langula Hardware closes

    Langula Hardware, a 96-year-old dealer in St. Paul. Minn., shut its doors on Dec. 3, according to an article in the St. Paul Pioneer Press. The store succumbed to repeated offers from the county redevelopment agency, the newspaper said, and finally agreed to sell the property.

  • Menards plans biggest store yet

    Menards is hoping to expand an existing mega store in Tinley Park, Ill.  according to an article in the TribLocal, adding 110,000-square feet to its 202,000-square foot building and 148,000-square-foot lumberyard. The grand total – 360,000 square feet – would make the store the largest unit in the Midwestern home improvement chain.

  • Menards takes on Columbus

    Home improvement retail Menards will open the first of two planned stores in Columbus, Ohio on April 12, according to an article in the Columbus Business Journal

    The Eau Claire, Wis. retailer purchased the land for the site in 2008 but did not start construction until last May, according to the article. The company is also preparing to build a second location on the east side of Columbus. 

     

     

  • Menards announces Decks & Landscaping Sale

    Eau Claire, Wis.-based Menards is advertising a Decks & Landscaping Sale running through April 17.

    Retaining block walls are featured on the cover of the retailer's digital flyer, along with concrete edgers, pavers and patio blocks.

    The company is also promoting a 12-ft. by 16-ft. deck with a 10-ft. octagon starting at about $2,179.
