Kodiak Building Partners has hired Mark Hayes as president of Forest Tek and Overseas Lumber.

In his new role, Hayes will oversee all aspects of the division’s operations. He will report to Pat Flood, executive vice president of Kodiak’s Retail LBM and Gypsum businesses.

The business includes Forest Tek Lumber, with a location in Tavernier, Fla., along with Overseas Lumber in Big Pine, Fla. The locations sell hardware, lumber, and building materials to high-end custom home builders and walk-in customers.

Additionally, the locations deliver products along the 100-mile chain of the Florida Keys, from Key Largo to Key West.

“We are excited to have Mark join the team at Forest Tek and Overseas Lumber,” Flood said. “He brings a wealth of experience along with an extensive knowledge of the Keys market.”

Prior to joining Forest Tek, Hayes’s previous experience included manufacturing, inventory control, supply chain navigation, marketing, technology development, and green fielding. Some of his recent leadership roles have been in pallet manufacturing and commercial painting contracting.

“Mark’s proven track record of surpassing goals and objectives will benefit the company on its future path,” Kodiak said in a press release announcing the move.

Jamie Brown, Forest Tek’s previous president, resigned to pursue other interests, Kodiak said.

Kodiak Building Partners acquired Forest Tek Lumber and Overseas Lumber in July 2018. The marked Kodiak's entry into the Florida Keys region.

Based in Highlands Ranch, Colo., Kodiak operates 85 locations in 20 states. The branches serve general contractors, home builders, subcontractors, remodelers, and consumers.
