Kodiak Building Partners has expanded its reach in Florida.

The Colorado-based pro dealer has acquired all of the operating assets of Forest Tek Lumber and Overseas Lumber Supply, in a deal that includes two retail locations in the Florida Keys.

Forest Tek Lumber operates a location in Tavernier, Fla. while Overseas Lumber Supply has a yard in Big Pine Key. The company sells hardware, lumber, and building materials to high-end custom home builders and walk-in customers.

The dealer delivers along the 100-mile chain of islands, from Key Largo to Key West, and handle a substantial market share. They are also a Circle of Excellence Andersen Window Dealer.

The sale is effective July 2. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Kodiak Building Partners was our first choice. We appreciate their business model that allows us to continue running our businesses in an autonomous manner, while enjoying the synergies and benefits that a company of their breadth allows,” co-owner Allen Wood said in a statement issued by Kodiak and Forest Tek/Overseas.

“Our longtime employees are an integral component of our success in the Florida Keys. Kodiak recognizes their value and our unique culture and empowers us to continue running our operations in the same style that has brought us this far,” co-owner Bruce McClenithan said.

Steve Swinney, CEO of Kodiak , said , “During the process of learning more about Forest Tek/Overseas Lumber, we knew that they would nicely complement our existing LBM companies, as well as our recent Florida acquisition, American Builders Supply.”

“The best discovery was learning that their team is the epitome of the culture that we cultivate at Kodiak.  Their employees are their family, and that was most evident as they recovered from Hurricane Irma,” Swinney added. “Not only is their family excited about joining ours, we look forward to supporting them, their continued hurricane recovery, and their future successes.”

Based in Littleton, Co., Kodiak Building Partners serves general contractors, homebuilders, sub-contractors, remodelers, and consumers through 67 facilities in Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Delaware, Massachusetts, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Maryland.

Last month Kodiak acquired Builders Millwork – a supplier of custom made architectural and residential wood doors and millwork, finish hardware, and hollow metal doors and frames with two locations in Mondovi and Hudson, Wis. along with a sales office in St. Cloud, Minn.
