Throwback Thursday: A Depot Diner

12/11/2019
The Nov. 29, 1993 issue of National Home Center News, the forerunner of HBSDealer, carried this stand-alone photo on page one.

Here's the caption in its entirety:

"On Nov. 10, Home Depot held a ribbon cutting for the opening of its Depot Diner, a 1,200-square-foot fast food restaurant that's attached to its warehouse home center in Woodstock, Ga., north of Atlanta. Top executives who participated in the ceremony were (from left) Bill Barbour, Coca-Cola Fountain; John Stern, Freshens Yogurt; Anthony Conza, Blimpie's Inc.; Bryan Lange, Home Depot; Barry Conrad, Burger King's franchise division; Steve Olsen, PowerBrands Inc. and John Pryor, Oscar Mayer Branded Restaurant Group."

The concept, as delicious as it sounds, didn't take off.
