The latest Quikrete Industry Dashboard shows a change of course for the gas price dial. For the first time in months, the average current price for a gallon of regular gas is lower than the prior month. The current $3.15 figure, as measured by the American Automobile Association, is down from the $3.16 figure of a month ago.
Still, gas prices are running almost a dollar ahead of a year ago, when the AAA measured $2.21.
Elsewhere on the Dashboard, existing home sales increased to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5,990,000 in July, compared to 5,860,000 in June.
On the Stock Roundup, BLDR leads the pack with gains of more than 80% for the year and more than 15% for the month.
Next up: The Conference Board will release its closely watched Consumer Confidence Index on. Aug. 31. That metric will precede by a few days the Sept. 5 expiration of federal unemployment and pandemic benefits.
