The latest update of the Quikrete Industry Dashboard reveals continued strength in NAICS 444 category sales, while housing starts gave back some of its 2020 advances in both the single-family and total-start categories.

The updated numbers from the Census Bureau showed that there were 1,380,000 housing starts in 2020, that’s up 7.0% from 2019, and the highest total since 2006.

Meanwhile, the seasonally adjusted rate of existing home sales improved in January over the downwardly revised estimate for the month of December.

Total existing-home sales, including completed transactions of single-family homes, townhomes, condos, and co-ops, edged upward by 0.6% to a seasonally adjusted rate of 6.69 million units in January compared to December 2020.

The HBSDealer Stock Roundup continued to see a majority of stocks in the growth quadrant, ahead of month-ago and year-ago prices.

Coming up next week, Consumer Confidence will be released on Feb. 23.
