Westlake expands in Kansas City area

5/1/2018
Westlake Ace Hardware will open new location in Parkville, Mo., boosting the company’s Kansas City-area store count to 20.

Westlake, the retail division of Ace Hardware Corp., signed for the property at 9200 NW Highway 45, near a Price Chopper grocery store. The 15,000 sq. ft. property is expected to open in the fall of 2018.

The new Westlake store will have a 12,535 square foot sales floor and sell such traditional hardware products as fasteners, tools, plumbing and electric supplies and paint — as well as lawn and garden supplies, and BBQ products.

The new store will also include a Westlake Pet Supply, a unique store-within-a-store concept. Pet Supply will sell an extensive array of pet food, toys, grooming products, health supplies, pre-packed and bulk treats, and other accessories for dogs, cats and other “furry friends.” Featured brands will include Blue Buffalo, Science Diet, Nutro, Taste of The Wild, Merrick, and Kong.

“Westlake has long been part of the Kansas City area, so the opening of our 20th store in the metro is particularly exciting for us,” said Joe Jeffries, CEO of Westlake Ace Hardware. “We are a fast-growing and vibrant brand, and the new Parkville store is indicative of that growth. But as we grow, we will never lose sight of the fact that we truly connect with customers on a very personal level because of the service, know-how and quality products we consistently provide.”

Westlake, at last count, operated 121 stores in 10 states. In January, it acquired the five-store Washington state Ace chain, Dennis Co.
