After more than 40 years of business in Howell, Mich., Grundy’s Ace Hardware has new owners and a new name.

Former owners Cliff Grundy and brother-in-law Jay Mellin had been pondering retirement. But a plan to sell the business wasn’t really in the works, according to a report by the Livingston Daily.

But Jim and Dianne Byrum – who own four Byrum Ace Hardware locations in the state – made an offer for the business.

The location has already changed hands, and names – now Byrum Ace Hardware – while expanding its product lines.

The plumbing, electrical and fastener departments are being expanded while the outdoor products category, including grills, are being bulked up. Byrum Ace Hardware is also brining Yeti coolers onboard.
