O'Neill Innovations has brought its Thornblock technology gloves to the home & garden market, offering puncture-resistant technology that the company claims is 3 times stronger than most leading alternatives.

In a head to head comparison, Thornblock gloves demonstrated superior puncture resistance. Additional tests using a 1mm steel puncture probe with a 20° conical point showed Thornblock outperforming, by a factor of 2x, a more expensive glove made from special fabric that was overlaid with tiny armored plates.

The patented technology that makes this possible involves a new laminate manufacturing technique that includes seamless fabrication without any sewn lines. The glove’s main feature is the Thornblock puncture resistant layer on the palm side that manages to retain its strength while being flexible and soft enough to conform to the shape of the hand. The back of the glove is also breathable.

“After purchase, its important to wear Thornblock for a little while to develop the soft flexible feel, but once broken in, these gloves are a fantastic deal," said Michael O’Neill, CEO at O’Neill Innovations. “We are offering twice the puncture resistance at half the price of other thorn resistant gloves."

Thornblock is part of the Maxfit and Infinity glove lines.
