Lowe’s suspends receipt checking practice
According to a local Philadelphia TV news report, the giant home improvement retailer Lowe’s suspended its practice of checking customer receipts as customers leave certain stores with their purchases.
The move was spurred by social media postings of a Philadelphia man – Will Mega, a former contestant on the “Big Brother” reality TV show. According to the Fox 29 WTXF report, Mega claimed to face racial profiling during a recent weekend of shopping at a West Philadelphia store.
According to the report, the policy was in effect at stores that were considered “high theft.” The company says the suspension will be in effect as it reviews its process.
