Lowe's names a chief compliance officer

2/20/2018

Lowe's has brought back Ross McCanless to fill the role of general counsel, secretary and chief compliance officer, effective Jan. 12, 2015.

McCanless previously held the legal role at Lowe's from 2003 to 2006. Since then, he went on to serve as chief legal officer, general counsel and secretary for Extended Stay America, Inc. and ESH Hospitality, Inc.

In his new position with Lowe's, he will be responsible for the company's legal matters, as well as advising the chairman and board of directors on corporate governance.

"We are pleased to welcome Bill back to Lowe's," said Robert A. Niblock, Lowe's chairman, president and CEO. "His combined legal and retail executive management experience is a great asset, and he already knows our company and culture well, having worked previously with many on our leadership team. We look forward to his return."

McCanless replaces Gaither Keener, who is planning to retire after 30 years with Lowe's.
