Ipe Woods USA expands with digital acquisition
Ipe Woods USA, an online direct to consumer wholesaler of exotic wood, has acquired Buy Ipe Direct.
Launched in 2015, Buy Ipe Direct is also a direct to consumer site specializing in the sale of Ipe and Garapa lumber.
"It is an exciting time in our company as we go into 2019 with a clear vision of our mission to provide the highest quality exotic lumber such as Tigerwood, Ipe and Cumaru to customers all over the USA. With this newest acquisition we will not only be able to reach more customers, but also to help distribute faster and more efficiently," said Steven Rossi, president of Ipe Woods USA.
Ipe Woods USA said the acquisition has already been completed. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The core of the Buy Ipe Direct distribution was on the East Coast and will remain there while the businesses try to merge and utilize Ipe Woods USA's nationwide shipping network, the company said. This model is expected to reduce shipping time and potential problems, Ipe Woods USA said.
Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Ipe Woods USA launched in 2017 and says it maintains about $20 million in inventory. The company also said it expects to make additional acquisitions in the near future.
