Griffin Lumber makes a pair of acquisitions

2/1/2019
Griffin Lumber & Hardware, the three-unit Georgia dealer, has acquired Blake Builders Supply and Specialty Structural Products.

Based in Griffin, Ga., Blake Builders Supply is a leading LBM dealer in the market while Specialty Structural Products provides roof and floor truss manufacturing.

Blake Builders Supply becomes the fourth location for Griffin joining locations in Cordele, Leesburg and Tifton, Ga.

Specialty Structural Products, also based in Griffin, will be Griffin Lumber’s second manufacturing facility and joins the company’s sawmill in Cordele.

Manufacturing is not new to Griffin Lumber: the company’s roots began in 1949 with milling logs into lumber. Adding roof and floor manufacturing to its portfolio will complement its current line of offerings, the company said.

“Blake Builders Supply and Specialty Structural Products have excellent reputations in the industry. The company also has a set of core values that we like, admire and feel is aligned with Griffin’s. People matter at Blake and Specialty and the companies have high standards,” said C.J. Griffin, CEO of Griffin Lumber & Hardware.

“When the opportunity to acquire these companies arose, we quickly recognized that it would be a good long‐term move that strengthened both companies,” Griffin noted.

“The people, products and reputation of Blake Builders Supply and Specialty Structural Products have always been very important to me. When the opportunity to join Griffin Lumber team presented itself, it quickly became evident that the two companies had something to offer to each other,” added Tom Hall, CEO of Blake’s Builders Supply.
