The Lester Group has provided additional details on its upcoming store opening.

The company, which operates Lester Building Supply, plans to open its fifth building supply location in Virginia’s  New River Valley this spring. Located in Christiansburg, the new store was formerly a Moore’s Lumber site and is undergoing extensive renovations.

This location will operate under a newly-created New River Valley Building Supply Banner. The Lester Group's other LBM banners include Lester Building Supply, Jim Carpenter Company, Taylor Brothers, and Building Supply of Manassas.

According to the Lester Group, the location will create 15 new jobs with employment anticipated to increase by approximately 10 jobs in the second year.

“Our employees have gained a reputation for providing customers with the expertise and the right answers,” said Jim O’Brien, co-chairman of the Lester Group.

The store will feature a 6,000 square foot showroom to display new construction and remodeling projects.  The renovated location will have new walls, lighting, heating/cooling, siding, paint, displays and a new racking and fixtures.

Additionally, two new buildings will be constructed to ensure the entire inventory is covered and protected, the company said. Overall, the site will include more than 41,000 square feet of warehouse and store buildings spread over five acres.

Last week the Lester Group announced that its board of directors elected Jay Dickens as president and CEO.

The Lester Group’s core business is building materials, retail stores and manufacturing treated lumber along with commercial and residential doors. The Martinsville, Va.-based company also has more than 18,000 acres of forest lands in Virginia and North Carolina. Lester’s real estate division has developed residential communities, shopping centers, office buildings and restaurants in Virginia, North Carolina and West Virginia.

The company said that it expects to employ more than 200 employees by the end of May.
