COVID-19 state update sees 'stay at home' extensions

In the lastest state-by-state COVID-19 response update, as compiled by the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA), numerous governors have initiated the reopening of their economies.

But other states continue to take a cautious approach and have extended "stay at home" orders into mid-May and beyond.

Here is a roundup of the most recent state activity in response to the COVID-19 crisis:

Alabama – The governor issued a “safer at home” order through May 15. The order allows for the reopening of certain non-essential businesses effective immediately.

Arizona – The governor issued a modified “stay at home” order extension through May 15 and announced the reopening of certain non-essential businesses beginning May 4. Existing essential businesses are instructed to implement social distancing and sanitation measures established by the U.S. Department of Labor or Arizona Department of Health Services.

Florida – The governor announced the reopening of certain non-essential businesses beginning May 4. The “stay-at-home” restrictions will remain in effect for Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties.

Indiana – The governor signed an order reopening the state’s economy beginning May 4.

Kentucky – The state has announced the reopening of non-essential businesses beginning May 11. The governor has issued health guidance for all employers.

Minnesota – The “stay at home” order has been extended through May 18. Essential businesses remain the same. Non-essential retail businesses will be allowed to reopen for curbside pick-up beginning May 4.

Nevada – The “stay at home” order has been extended through May 15. Essential businesses remain the same. Certain non-essential businesses are allowed to reopen today.

New Hampshire – The governor issued a modified “stay-at-home” order through May 31. The order allows for a phased reopening of non-essential businesses starting today. The state also published health guidance for retail businesses.

North Carolina – The governor issued a modified “stay at home” order through May 22. The order reopens certain non-essential businesses beginning May 8.

North Dakota – The governor issued an order reopening most non-essential businesses effective immediately. The governor strongly encourages all employers to follow state health protocols.

Ohio – The governor has issued a “stay safe” order through May 29. The order allows certain non-essential businesses to reopen beginning May 4. This includes any non-essential construction businesses. The order also includes new health guidance for all employers.

Virginia – The governor announced that certain non-essential businesses could reopen as soon as May 15.

Washington – The governor issued a modified stay-at-home order through May 31. The order could allow for the reopening of certain non-essential businesses later this week.

West Virginia – The governor has issued a “safer at home” order which reopens most of the state’s economy beginning May 4.
