Looking to avoid a catastrophic loss to your business?

At 2018 Pro Dealer Industry Summit, Tony Sciarrino – director of claims litigation at Pennsylvania Lumbermens Mutual Insurance (PLM) – will lead an in-depth, behind-the-scenes view from the insurance company’s perspective of real-life, large losses.

Dealers will be able to see actual footage and images from claims that PLM has received from different building material dealers throughout the US. By analyzing the information from the insurance company’s perspective, you will be able to see the process from beginning to end: the mistakes made, the causes of the loss, and most importantly, ways the catastrophic loss could have been avoided.

Sciarrino is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and has spent 22 years as a civil litigator in Western Pennsylvania.

The ProDealer Industry Summit is presented by the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association and HBSDealer.

Speakers this year include John Burns, CEO of John Burns Real Estate Consulting and no stranger to the LBM industry; John Mauri, president of the LBM & Hardlines Group for ECi Building and Construction Division; and Keynote Speaker Mark Nutsch – Green Beret Commander and the author of the best-selling book “Horse Soldiers.”

Registration is now open for the Pro Dealer Industry Summit, scheduled for Oct 17-19 at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel in downtown Chicago.

NAHB supports Supreme Court nomination

NAHB says Brett Kavanaugh is a worthy successor to retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy.

BY HBSDealer Staff

Following President Donald Trump’s selection of Brett Kavanaugh to fill the U.S. Supreme Court seat being vacated by retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has placed its support behind the nomination.

In a statement issued by the NAHB, chairman Randy Noel said, “NAHB supports President Trump’s nomination of Judge Kavanaugh as Associate Justice to the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a worthy successor to retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy. Throughout his distinguished career, Judge Kavanaugh has been recognized for his sharp legal mind and as a stalwart defender of our Constitution.”

NAHB Chairman Randy Noel.

“Judge Kavanaugh is eminently qualified to serve on our nation’s highest court. We would urge all senators to vote yes on his confirmation and oppose any efforts to delay consideration,” said Noel, also a custom home builder in LaPlace, La.

Kavanaugh is a United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. He served as White House Staff Secretary during the Presidency of George W. Bush.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said confirmation hearings for Kavanaugh will not take place until September or October, prior to November elections.

Quick-Connect Wrench Wheel from Feeney

Lightweight tools are designed for builders and contractors installing Quick-Connect Tensioner fittings.

BY HBSDealer Staff

Feeney, Inc., the manufacturer of stainless steel and aluminum railing systems, has introduced the Quick-Connect Wrench Wheel: a compact, lightweight tool designed to make it easier for builders, contractors and installers to tension Feeney’s Quick-Connect Tensioner fittings.

Manufactured from lightweight and durable 6061 aluminum alloy for long-lasting performance, the Quick-Connect Wrench Wheel allows for continuous full rotation without requiring repositioning of wrenches – making it a faster and easier alternative to the two-wrench tensioning method.

The tool utilizes a specially designed spring ball retainer that securely grips onto the wrench flats of the Quick-Connect Tensioner fittings for ease of maneuvering.

“We are always looking for ways to simplify the installation of our products and save installers time on the jobsite,” said Andy Penny, vp of marketing and advertising, Feeney, Inc. “As our tagline states, ‘Feeney makes it easy’, and our new Wrench Wheel is just another example of how we are delivering on that brand promise.”

To use the tool, the user simply slides the Wrench Wheel onto the wrench flats of a Quick-Connect Tensioner fitting and then rotates the Wrench Wheel by hand to adjust cable tension, while holding the opposite end of the fitting in a fixed position with an open-end wrench.

Based in Oakland, Calif., Feeney residential and commercial construction products include CableRail stainless steel cable assemblies, Quick-Connect auto-locking cable fittings, DesignRail aluminum railing systems with optional LED lighting, Sta-Lok stainless steel rods, and the Trellis Collection of garden trellises.
