Arrests in home center shooting

A loss-prevention officer at a Menards store in Wichita, Kan., was shot after confronting a suspected shoplifter. Two suspects are in custody.

According to press reports, including the Wichita Eagle newspaper, the shooting occurred April 30 at the Menards store at North Maise street. The security guard was shot in the stomach during the incident. He was reportedly released from the hospital on the same day of the shooting

The shooting occurred in the afternoon, as a man and woman tried to carry out a home security system without paying for it. A struggle ensued outside the store, during which the man pulled out a handgun and fired it. The suspects led police on a couple of different car chases before they were arrested.
