A tiny house that went huge

5/13/2019
Proof the tiny home movement is alive and well is the Allwood Solvalla Garden House.

Listed on Amazon as the 172 SQF Studio Cabin Kit and Garden House, the tiny house went viral last week and sold out. Total units sold were not available from the e-commerce giant.

The structure is described as a garden house kit, made from high quality Nordic wood, that can be set up on rooftops of multi-story buildings.

Amazon and the home’s manufacturer, Allwood, said that assembly of this solid wood structure takes a full day for two adults – or about 8 hours. Allwood also says the tiny house is ideal as a guest house or home office while featuring a floor space of approximately 172 square feet.

Retailing at $7,250, along with free shipping, the house sold out last week but has since been relisted on Amazon.

Based in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., with distribution facilities in Garfield, N.J., Allwood specializes in eco-friendly millwork and engineered wood products manufactured and imported primarily from Scandinavia and the Baltic States.

Last week’s National Hardware Show, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, featured a Tiny House Village in the outdoor exhibition lot.
