Trex has a new Northeast distributor
Trex Co. is partnering with Manufacturers Reserve Supply (MRS), a New Jersey-based distributor that will supply dealers in the Northeast region with Trex’s wood-alternative decking and railing.
MRS specializes in the wholesale distribution of decking, siding, roofing and trim, mainly to lumberyards, specialty dealers and home centers in the tri-state region.
“Trex has established one of the most robust distribution networks in the industry, and our relationship with MRS will allow us to further expand our market share,” said Ron Kaplan, chairman, president and CEO of Trex. “MRS has a long-standing reputation for integrity, responsiveness and innovation, and we are confident they will provide the highest quality of service to our valued dealer partners.”
“Trex’s recognition and reputation within the wood-alternative decking and railing category is unparalleled,” said Stephen Boyd, president and CEO of MRS. “We’re excited to partner with the industry leader that offers game-changing products. Our core values and strengths will effectively complement each other to create a winning solution for our mutual customers.”

Whirlpool teams up with Habitat for Humanity
Whirlpool Corporation employees will be working alongside Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County and students at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., on the construction of a new home this fall.
The new home is being built for Chris Schaaf, a champion golfer in the Special Olympics, in a new neighborhood amongst other Whirlpool-sponsored Habitat homes from the previous three consecutive years.
The event will also serve as an informal recruitment opportunity for Kelley School of Business students.
"For the fourth consecutive year, Whirlpool is proud to partner with IU to build a home for a Bloomington family," said general manager and IU graduate Chris Ball. "We’ve seen firsthand the joy home ownership brings to families and Whirlpool is pleased to contribute. It’s also a unique opportunity to meet the next generation of the workforce. The interview-by-hard hat approach is a fresh way to connect with talented students who share our values and commitment to giving back to our communities."
The project began in conjunction with Indiana University’s Sept. 14 football game against the Bowling Green Falcons and is set to be dedicated two hours before the 8 p.m. kickoff during the Sept. 21 game against the Missouri Tigers. Jeff Fettig, Whirlpool chairman and CEO (as well as an IU graduate) will take part in the dedication, at which time Chris will receive his keys on the field of IU’s Memorial Stadium.
Whirlpool is currently involved in an ongoing initiative to donate a range and an Energy Star-qualified refrigerator to every new Habitat home built in the U.S. and Canada. The company has sponsored more than 100 homes to date and donated over 140,000 appliances since partnering with Habitat in 1999.
