New CFO and CLO named at Summit Materials

<p>Brian J. Harris has been appointed CFO and Anne L. Benedict has been named chief legal officer&nbsp;at heavy-side building materials company Summit Materials. Harris' appointment is effective Oct. 14, while Benedict's&nbsp;is Oct. 1.</p> <p>Harris replaces John R. Murphy, who has stepped down as interim CFO and will continue to serve as a director and chairman of the audit committee of the board of directors for Summit's indirect parent company.</p>

Brian J. Harris has been appointed CFO and Anne L. Benedict has been named chief legal officer at heavy-side building materials company Summit Materials. Harris' appointment is effective Oct. 14, while Benedict's is Oct. 1.


Harris replaces John R. Murphy, who has stepped down as interim CFO and will continue to serve as a director and chairman of the audit committee of the board of directors for Summit's indirect parent company.


Previously, Harris was EVP and CFO at eye health company Bausch & Lomb Holdings. His resume also includes various positions of increasing responsibility with Tomkins, including president of the Gates Corp.'s power transmission business and SVP strategic business development and business administration, CFO and secretary of Gates Corp.


Prior to her new role, Benedict was a partner in the Washington, D.C., office of global law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. Her specialty in corporate law involves a wealth of accumulated experience in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, securities offerings, securities regulation and disclosure issues, corporate governance matters and various other strategic transactions. Benedict holds a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, as well as a bachelor of arts in English and psychology from the University of Michigan.
