Here’s to the year’s best new products
The Golden Hammer Awards are back, and they intend to shine in the aisles of hardware stores and at the jobsites of forward-thinking contractor crews.
HBSDealer solicited nominations back in mid-2023, and the best of the best have entered a prestigious collection.
The process marks an enhancement and continuation of a decades-old tradition of honoring the best-of-the-best of the home improvement industry — from the best home center television commercials back in the early 1980s to Golden Hammer Retailers of the Year in the early 20th century.
The Golden Hammers will be celebrated in Las Vegas on Feb. 27.
“Hardware stores and building supply dealers are looking for products that knock it out of the park,” said Ken Clark, editor in chief of HBSDealer. “But that’s just one of the motives behind our revived Golden Hammer program. We also want to recognize the hard work that often goes into product development and marketing.
“When a company gets excited to receive a Golden Hammer, we get excited, too.” Clark continued. “It’s an honor to present so many worthy products this year.”
The following criteria were used to judge each entry:
• Innovation — features, technology, differentiation and benefits;
• Value — Including relative price, consumer relevance, and functional practicality;
• Shelf appeal — clarity of message, and overall desirability of the product within its category.

Additionally, HBSDealer will continue its tradition of recognizing, community-focused and service-oriented Golden Heart awards.
The Golden Hammer Products and Purpose Awards will once again shine a golden spotlight on hardware and building supply dealers that give back to their communities and to society.
