Westlake continues its expansions, this time all the way to Raleigh, North Carolina.

The Lenexa, Kansas-based hardware store chain and retail division of Ace Hardware Corp. agreed to acquire the two-store chain Ace Hardware of Raleigh, with locations at North Ridge Shopping Center (6196 Falls of Neuse Road) and Falls River Shopping Center (10930 Raven Ridge Road).

The move follows an agreement to buy Seagoville (Texas) Ace.

According to Westlake management and Ace Hardware of Raleigh owners Howie and Brug Jung, this will be a seamless transition of ownership, personnel in the two stores will remain the same, and operations will not be affected. It is anticipated that the purchase will be completed July 18.

Westlake operates 92 stores in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Oklahoma,Texas and New Mexico. The Raleigh acquisition introduces a new state into the Westlake fold.

Both Ace Hardware of Raleigh stores will continue to sell a wide range of traditional hardware products such as fasteners, tools, paint, plumbing and electrical supplies, as well as pet care, seasonal lawn and garden supplies, and BBQ products. Kevin Pavese, general manager of the North Ridge location, and Richard Leblond, general manager of the Falls River location, will continue in their roles.

Westlake will be officially welcomed to the community at the annual Ace Hardware of Raleigh Hot Dog Daze (August 5-6, 2016).

“Westlake is a growing and vibrant brand, and we are excited to become part of the Raleigh community,” said Tom Knox, CEO of Westlake. “Since 1976, Howie and Brug Jung have worked very hard to make Ace Hardware of Raleigh an integral part of their community. We look forward to continuing their fine tradition of outstanding customer service and community involvement.”
