Great Lakes Ace Hardware announced it has acquired Bellerive True Value Hardware in Nicholasville, Kentucky, a town of 31,000 south of Lexington.

The company said the store is currently undergoing a complete renovation. It is scheduled to open as a Great Lakes Ace Hardware on October 12. A grand opening celebration is planned in mid-November.

“We are thrilled to join the Nicholasville community and continue the outstanding tradition of customer service started by Bruce Tassin and Bellerive True Value,” said Joe Jeffries, president of Ace Retail Holdings, the parent company of Great Lakes Ace Hardware.

The company said Bellerive True Value owner Bruce Tassin will continue to manage the store team, many of whom have been retained after the acquisition. During the renovation, the location will remain open for sales and service of Stihl products.

The new Great Lakes Ace will offer services such as key cutting and automotive key fob replacement, screen repair, and a propane tank exchange.

It will also sell lawn and garden supplies, fasteners, tools, plumbing, and electrical supplies. The location will also feature several specialty departments and store-within-a-store concepts.

“We are eager to show our new neighbors how Great Lakes Ace lives the Ace Helpful Promise every day by delivering reliable service, helpful advice, and products to help them get their projects done right,” said Jeffries.

Founded in 1946 and headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan, Great Lakes Ace has been part of the Ace Hardware Cooperative since 2014.
