Fortress Building Products, the Garland, Texas-based manufacturer, has made a pair of management moves.

The company has added Tommy Junker in the role of product manager, cladding and decking. According to Fortress, Junker will be a huge asset in bringing the company’s latest segment, cladding, to market at the end of Q3.

In this new position, Junker will help build and sustain product categories, meet market demands. and provide long-term financial success for cladding and decking product categories. Junker brings extensive flooring sales, product development, and management experience to his role, having most recently worked for the Swiff-Train Company as a business unit manager in the luxury vinyl category.

“Tommy’s experience with both residential and commercial product lines, as well as his knowledge of the commercial specifications process, will be extremely valuable as Fortress enters the cladding category,” said Bill Ross, director, composite category at Fortress Building Products. “We’re excited to welcome Tommy to the team.”

Cladding will join the existing line of building products from Fortress, including fencing, decking, pergolas, railing, framing, lighting and fastener systems.

Tom Leahy

Additionally, Fortress has named Tom Leahy as director, channel sales. Leahy will lead the sales organization for Fortress, working directly with the one-step wholesale distribution channel. The move will help the manufacturer better serve customers and support product expansion, both inside and outside of the fence category, Fortress said.

Leahy comes from a fence industry background, having spent numerous years with Merchants Metals in various product, sales, and marketing management capacities. Most recently, he was vice president and general manager at ARDCO, LLC, where he successfully developed and implemented a new business model, along with deploying new products. Under Leahy’s direction, the construction machinery and heavy equipment company was able to expand into new market segments, Fortress said.

“With Tom’s strategic experience at ARDCO, LLC and extensive background in the fence industry, he’s an important addition to the Channel Sales management team,” said Jeff Schulz, vice president, channel sales at Fortress Building Products. “We’re excited for him to lead the 1-Step team in key areas of growth, and are confident his leadership will help Fortress maintain focus on providing our internal and external customers with a true partnership experience.”
