Done Deal: Boise Cascade finalizes BROSCO acquisition

Boise's Building Materials Distribution business expects to serve the Northeast with expanded capacity.

Boise Cascade said it is paying $172 million for its acquisiton of BROSCO.

Boise Cascade announced that it has completed its acquisition of Brockway-Smith, aka BROSCO.

First announced in August, Boise Cascade said it was paying $172 million for the New England wholesale distributor that specializes in doors and millwork.

“We are excited to welcome this outstanding team to Boise Cascade,” said Jeff Strom, executive vice president, Boise Cascade Building Materials Distribution. “We look forward to serving millwork customers in the Northeast markets with this expanded capacity.”

Located in Wilmington, Massachusetts, BROSCO is a fifth-generation, family-owned company that was founded in 1890. BROSCO operates distribution centers in Hatfield, Massachusetts and Portland, Maine.

Prior to this acquisition, Boise Cascade said it operates 10 millwork locations in some of the nation’s fastest-growing markets, specializing in exterior and interior doors, frames, hardware, and pre-finishing options.

Along with interior and exterior doors, BROSCO’s portfolio of products includes mouldings, railings, windows, stair parts, and composite products.

Based in Boise, Idaho, Boise Cascade is one of the largest producers of engineered wood products and plywood in North America and a leading U.S. wholesale distributor of building products. 

Boise Cascade recently reported second quarter 2023 sales of $1.8 billion.
