The new faces of True Value’s supply chain

6/19/2019
True Value Company has elevated two executives to manage distribution and supply chain optimization after Abhinav Shukla -- the company’s former senior VP and COO – left the Chicago-based hardware distributor to take a position with Aspen Dental Management in April.

New to True Value’s senior management lineup are Jim Harrington, VP of  supply chain operations; and Lyndsi Lee, VP of supply chain. Harrington has been with True Value for three-and-a-half years, while Lee has four-and-a-half years with True Value. Both executives came to the hardware distributor from The Boston Consulting Group.

From True Value’s online management team page, here’s the bio for Harrington:

“As VP of supply chain operations, Jim Harrington is responsible for all distribution and delivery operations supporting over 4,000 True Value stores and $1.4 billion in sales. In his role, he has driven efficiency and service improvements through optimization and Lean implementation projects.

“Harrington joined True Value after 7 years at Boston Consulting Group, where he focused on operations strategy and supply chain optimization for Fortune 500 clients. Previously, he held various operational positions of increasing responsibility at the Dial Corporation.

"He has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a chemical engineering degree from the University of Notre Dame.”

And here is the bio of Lyndsi Lee from the web site:

“As VP of supply chain, Lyndsi Lee drives end-to-end supply chain optimization, develops integrated planning & logistics strategies and builds best-in-class sourcing programs. She has been instrumental in leveraging her extensive operations expertise to increase service levels and identify operational efficiencies for True Value.

“Lee's experience spans over 18 years in delivering tangible business results through optimizing business process and continuous improvement. She has held leadership positions with Boston Consulting Group and The Home Depot, where she began her career.

“Lee holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Decision and Information Sciences from the University of Florida.”

The new executives take the reins of the distributor’s supply chain against the backdrop of a major supply chain investment. The company announced in February a $150 million investment in supply chain optimization that will include a new distribution center in Hanover Township, Pa.

Shukla arrived at True Value in 2013 as senior VP and COO. He played a prominent role during True Value conventions, explaining and promoting initiatives in supply chain, merchandising and pricing (as in this 2018 article), among other topics. He also oversaw True Value’s paint manufacturing division and its proprietary brands.
