  • The Rockwool Group signs distribution deal with Lowe’s in the U.S.

    The Rockwool Group, a Danish supplier of stone wool insulation and other building materials worldwide, has signed an agreement with Lowe’s to supply products in 227 stores across 13 states in the United States, primarily in the East.

  • Report: Lowe’s to open in Washington, D.C., market

    According to a report in the Washington Business Journal, Lowe’s plans to open in the Washington, D.C., area. 

    The journal reported that the Mooresville, N.C.-based retailer will open a 130,000-sq.-ft. store in a retail development anchored by Costco Wholesale Corp. The project is reportedly being developed by Fort Lincoln New Town Corp.

  • Big boxes juggle their appliance assortments

    The Home Depot and Lowe's are adjusting their lineups in their appliance assortments. At Home Depot, Samsung joins the fray, while Lowe's introduced LG.

    At Home Depot, Samsung Electronics America products will be available to be ordered in store locations nationwide and on Homedepot.com beginning Dec. 9. "Adding Samsung's line of home appliances to the roster really bolsters our offering to meet the growing needs of our consumers," said Bob Baird, merchandising VP.

    Lowe’s has signed an agreement with Microsoft Corp. to implement Microsoft Office 365 across more than 1,745 stores, 200,000 employees and its corporate offices in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

    Office 365 will help the home improvement retailer improve customer service by providing collaboration tools to increase communication among its stores and employees. The technology will be available for Lowe's employees soon and will help customers tap into the collective expertise of Lowe’s work force.
