  • Home Depot selects a high-tech pricing tool

    Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Clear Demand announced that The Home Depot has licensed its latest pricing solution. 

    According to the technology vendor, Clear Demand was selected for its ability to manage prices via sophisticated rules while providing Home Depot with an agile delivery model.

  • Home Depot, U.S. Home Systems close merger transaction

    Home Depot and U.S. Home Systems have announced the completion of the merger of USHS with an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Home Depot. The merger was approved by the stockholders of USHS at a special meeting held on Oct. 26. As a result, USHS became an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Home Depot.

    Irving, Texas-based USHS is currently an exclusive provider of kitchen and bath refacing products and services, as well as closet and garage organizational systems to Home Depot.

    The Justice Department and The Home Depot have reached a settlement in a case where the government accused the retailer of unlawfully terminating an employee who was a member of the Army National Guard.

  • Menear breaks down $23 billion in sales

    The Home Depot’s President of U.S. Retail Craig Menear had plenty of positive numbers to discuss from a merchandising standpoint after the company reported comp-store sales growth of 5.8% in the second quarter.

    All three U.S. divisions had positive comps, and also beat their sales plan, Menear said. Additionally, all departments had positive comps for the quarter, in which Home Depot reported sales of $23.8 billion.

    A group of Home Depot customers in Beaverton, Ore., helped authorities solve a dozen shoplifting cases involving close to $500,000 in stolen merchandise from a variety of businesses, according to an article in the Portland Tribune.

  • HD's Menear points to merchandise highlights

    Atlanta-based Home Depot's wind-and-storm aided sales effort in the third quarter presented several category highlights, according to executive VP merchandising Craig Menear.

    The company's strong third-quarter performance, which included a 13% net earnings increase and comp-store sales of positive 4.2%, included strength "in the core of the store" and growth in average ticket and transactions.

  • With one less week, Home Depot sees Q4 sales slip

    Atlanta-based The Home Deport reported fourth-quarter total sales of $17.7 billion. That's down 3.0% from the same quarter last year, which benefited from an extra week in the calendar.

    On a 13-week basis, the company's sales actually increased 3.9%. 

    The world's largest home improvement retailer reported comp-store sales in the fourth quarter increased 4.4% company-wide and 4.9% in the United States. Net earnings were $1.01 billion, down slightly from $1.02 billion a year ago.
