Westlake Ace Hardware opens its newest Raleigh, North Carolina-area store in the Edgewater Place shopping area with grand opening events May 18-21.

A ceremonial board cutting by Westlake Ace leadership and representatives from the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce is at 8 a.m., Thursday, May 18. A light breakfast will be served.

Events on Saturday, May 20, from 11 a.m.–2 p.m, will include grill and outdoor power equipment demonstrations, free prize drawings, a balloon artist and other free kids’ activities and a food truck with special treats, said the firm.

“The weekend’s events will also be an opportunity for the community to meet Jair Simmons, the store’s general manager,” said Westlake Ace.

Jair Simmons began his career with Westlake Ace in August 2020 as operations manager in the retailer’s West Los Angeles, California store.

In March 2021, he transferred to North Carolina to help open the Chapel Hill store – where he was eventually promoted to general manager.

“A 14-year veteran of the retail industry, Simmons is passionate about spending quality time with his wife, three daughters, and the family dog. When he’s not working, he can be found cooking in the kitchen and being a self-described foodie, working in the yard, and spending time outdoors,” said the company.

The store, with 14,000 square feet, said it offers brands such as:

  • Milwaukee, DeWalt, and Craftsman power tools;
  • Benjamin Moore and Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines paints;
  • Stihl, Ego, and Toro outdoor power equipment (including Stihl repair);
  • Weber, Traeger, and Big Green Egg grills and accessories;
  • Scotts lawn care products;
  • Solo Stove fire pits; and,
  • Yeti coolers and accessories.

Westlake Ace currently owns and operates 12 other stores in North Carolina; six located in the Raleigh-Durham metro area, and six in the Outer Banks.
