Westlake Ace Hardware reported it has signed an agreement to build a new store in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, joining 25 other locations it currently owns in the Kansas City area. Westlake Ace currently operates two other stores in Lee’s Summit.
“The opportunity to open a new store in our hometown of Kansas City is always exciting for us,” said Joe Jeffries, president, and CEO of Westlake Ace Hardware.
The new 15,000-square-foot building will feature 12,670 square feet of retail space. Construction is scheduled to be completed in late 2023, said the firm, and a soft opening is tentatively planned for early 2024.

In addition to offering services such as key cutting and automotive key fob replacement, and propane tank exchange, said Westlake Ace, the store will sell lawn and garden supplies, fasteners, tools, plumbing and electrical supplies.
The location will also feature several specialty departments and store-within-a-store concepts, said the company, selling such brands as:
- The Backyard BBQ department will feature a full range of grills and BBQ accessories from such leading brands as Weber and Traeger.
- The Outdoor Power Equipment department will sell a full range of gas-, electric-, and battery- powered blowers, chain saws, mowers, and string trimmers from manufacturers such as Stihl, EGO, Craftsman, and Toro.
- The Paint Studio will feature a wide range of paints and painting supplies from Benjamin Moore, Magnolia Home, Clark + Kensington, Purdy, and Kilz.
“Most importantly, it will give the community more chances to see how we live the Ace Helpful Promise daily through reliable service, helpful advice, and the products needed to get their projects done right,” said Jeffries.
In related news, another new Westlake Ace store in Liberty, Missouri, will open in the summer of 2023. When open, it will be the 25th Westlake Ace location in the Kansas City metro area. Westlake said it currently owns and operates 155 stores in 12 states.
