Throwback Thursday: A Depot Diner
From Nov. 1993, an effort to feed the appetite of America's home owners and contractors.
The Nov. 29, 1993 issue of National Home Center News, the forerunner of HBSDealer, carried this stand-alone photo on page one.
Here’s the caption in its entirety:
“On Nov. 10, Home Depot held a ribbon cutting for the opening of its Depot Diner, a 1,200-square-foot fast food restaurant that’s attached to its warehouse home center in Woodstock, Ga., north of Atlanta. Top executives who participated in the ceremony were (from left) Bill Barbour, Coca-Cola Fountain; John Stern, Freshens Yogurt; Anthony Conza, Blimpie’s Inc.; Bryan Lange, Home Depot; Barry Conrad, Burger King’s franchise division; Steve Olsen, PowerBrands Inc. and John Pryor, Oscar Mayer Branded Restaurant Group.”
The concept, as delicious as it sounds, didn’t take off.
