Quikrete Industry Dashboard
The latest version of the Quikrete Industry Dashboard shows dramatic increases in the Monthly Retail Sales charts. NAICS 444 retailers -- building material and garden equipment and supplies dealers -- increased 10.9% over April, and jumped 16.4% over the same month a year ago.
Meanwhile, residential construction ticked upward for both total starts and single family starts. The pace of total housing starts failed to hit 1,000,000 for the second month in a row. That's the first time for that to happen since February and March of 2015.
On the Stock Roundup grid, Builders FirstSource is setting the pace, followed closely by Lowe's. All 10 hardware and building supply companies on the Roundup along with the Dow Jones Industrial Average are higher than they were one month ago.
Gas prices continue their slow rise out of the cellar. The latest average as measured by the American Automobile Association is $2.12 for a gallon of regular.
Coming in the week of June 22: Existing home sales will be released by the National Realtors Association.
