Poll question: On electric vehicles

Will battery power ever replace gas-powered cars and trucks?
9/26/2022

Electric cars are increasingly common. Everyone has seen a Tesla on the road by now. And Ford is selling F-150 Lightning electric trucks for an opening price of about $40,000 (minus a potential tax credit of $7,500.)

Architects and builders have described the growth of battery-powered vehicles as a change agent around the house. And the design of garages and driveways have been reworked on blueprints around the country—not just California.

The benefits of quiet, clean electric cars are seductive, as energy independence remains a widespread national goal.

But then again, can a nation where rolling blackouts and shaky electric-power grids support an ambitious drive to put an electric car in every garage? Should we at least tap the breaks until we get our grids in order?
