Orgill's history on tap
Founded in 1847, Orgill Brothers & Co. has sustained a long-running success story in the distribution industry. Recently, Orgill recognized its 175th anniversary in Memphis with, according to a Linkedin post from CEO Boyden Moore, “a couple beers to celebrate.”
Not just any beers, either. Some were poured from a custom-made tap with Joe Orgill’s likeness and the description: “Joe—A Smooth Lager.” Another tap, with Mike McDonnell's likeness, was billed as “Mike—A Strong Ale.”
Joe Orgill and Mike McDonnell were original family members who led the company’s growth surge through the late 20th century.
Moore credited the clever tap idea to Ring’s End, an Orgill customer based in Connecticut. “Our best ideas come from our customers,” Moore posted.
