SRS growth surges in March

SRS Distribution has been a lion in March when it comes to expansion.

The McKinney, Texas-based roofing distribution holding company has acquired Top-Notch Roofing Supply with locations in Longview and Tyler, Texas. The acquisition arrives on the heels of SRS’s purchase of Denver, Colo.-based American Roofing Supply earlier this month. Terms of both acquisitions were not disclosed.

Additionally, at the start of March, SRS opened three new locations in Grand Rapids, Mich.; Middletown, Ohio; and North Sacramento, Calif.

Top-Notch Roofing Supply distributes residential and commercial roofing products in East Texas. The company will now transition to the Southern Shingles banner, which operates 25 locations across Texas.

"Top-Notch provides SRS with an excellent opportunity to expand our geographic coverage into East Texas,” said Dan Tinker, president and CEO of SRS Distribution.

American Roofing Supply, a distributor of commercial roofing products and accessories, serves Eastern Colorado and the Front Range markets – including pro contractors, homebuilders, and remodelers.

Following this acquisition, SRS said it will all existing and future locations in Colorado to the American Roofing Supply banner.

Regarding the opening of a new location in Grand Rapids, SRS said it is the first step of a multi-year plan to expand across Michigan while the Middletown locations marks the distributor’s 12th location in Ohio. Both locations are operating under the Willoughby Supply banner, which SRS acquired three months ago.

The North Sacramento location is operating as a RoofLine Supply unit and will compliment SRS’s existing Sacramento location, the company said.

"Our multi-pronged growth strategy continues to strengthen the company's presence in both new and existing markets,” Tinker said, noting that SRS has opened six new locations in 2018 and plans to open more later this spring.

SRS operates 212 locations in 41 states and is a portfolio company of Berkshire Partners LLC.
