Spring cleaning meets the decluttering movement

2/20/2018

The “less is more” revolution has brought us the phenomenon that is the tiny home movement. But for the Americans who can’t whittle their homes down to 300 square feet, there’s the decluttering movement.

Decluttering is a bona fide social movement, thanks partly to the success of “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up,” which New York Times no. 1 best seller among advice and how-to books, with 72 weeks on the charts. The popularity of Marie Kondo’s tome to organizational bliss – the book that schools American consumers in the art of Japanese-style decluttering – might have a long-lasting impact on spring cleaning.

For the home improvement retailers already accustomed to decking out their endcaps in mops, brooms and plastic storage systems, an opportunity has presented itself to make decluttering missions easier for the determined consumer.

Belmont, North Carolina-based Federal Brace is on board. It’s new Closet Bracket Line holds up to 500 pounds each and can be used to organize toys, bikes or tools in the garage or anywhere in need of decluttering.
