REPORT: McCormack Building Supply rises from the ashes

Following a devastating fire that destroyed most of its business, McCormack Building Supply is back on its feet.

In October, a fire devastated the Winslow, Maine pro dealer’s primary retail building in addition to causing other structural damage and wiping out products. But McCormack Building Supply vowed to return.

Now the dealer is back, operating out of three locations in Winslow. According to a report by the Morning Sentinel, McCormack has been steadily ramping up supplies and now has about 95% of its products back in stock.

On Nov. 11, the company opened a hardware store at a new site. The location also houses McCormack Building Supply’s kitchen and bath showroom along with its central office. Additional locations are being used for warehouse purposes.

McCormack Co-Owner Steve Farnham told the Morning Sentinel that the business “never closed.”

“That’s something people probably didn’t know,” he said, noting that McCormack’s 16 employees continued to deliver products and take orders just days after the fire.

Plans are underway to redesign its primary site and rebuild at the company’s original location.
