PrimeSource makes acquisition

PrimeSource Building Products has purchased Compass International, the Anaheim, Calif.-based fastener supplier, for an undisclosed price. Compass manufactures a variety of screws and other fasteners for drywall, sheet metal, decks and other construction purposes. Its best known brands are Marker, Darts, Deckmart and Tapmark.

In addition to its Anaheim headquarters, Compass operates locations in Chicago, Houston and Atlanta.

In a prepared statement, PrimeSource president Ken Fishbein said that the acquisition would allow his company to broaden its range of fasteners, which would be consolidated under the Pro-Twist name. Compass customers will also be able to purchase PrimeSource products, including its Grip-Rite products, he said.

PrimeSource is based in Carrollton, Texas, with 37 distribution centers throughout the United States and Canada.
