Poll question: Tragedy strikes again
Society has a shooting problem, is there anything a retailer can do?
A Walmart store in El Paso, Texas has been in the news for the past several days for an horrific reason – a shooting spree that killed 22 people.
The problem of violence in society is not one that the retail industry is designed or equipped to address. But the issues of gun control, gun sales and violence prevention have been thrust into the retailer’s purview by recent events.
The current HBSDealer poll question is no exception: Given the recent spate of gun violence – especially in a retail setting – has your business taken any steps to mitigate potential eruptions of workplace-related tragedy?
The poll is open on the right side of this page (or scroll down your mobile device). As always, HBSDealer also invites your extended comments. Just click on the “Comments” link below.
There is a tremendous amount we can do. 1. Stop selling guns. And if you won’t do that, at least take a good hard look at the kind you sell. 2. Demand stricter gun laws - exercise your right as an American citizen to expect action for those we put in office.
