For Olfa, X marks the spot

Tool manufacturer sharpens its offering with the X-Design Pro Series
Osaka-based OLFA, which maintains a North American headquarters in Rosemont, Ill., and is known as the originator of “snap-blade” technology, introduced the X-Design Pro Series of knives. The line features the OLFA ultra-sharp black premium blades which are double-honed to a 59 degree edge angle to be 25% sharper, according to the manufacturer, than OLFA standard silver blades.

The series offers three blade sizes to accommodate a wide variety of jobs. The Standard-Duty 9 mm blades make quick work on high-precision applications. The 9mm is fit for vinyl, window film and wallpaper, as well as shrink wrap, caulking, foam board or other materials. The Heavy-Duty 18 mm blades are the standard for all around multi-purpose cutting. The 18mm LA-X includes a metal pick, perfect for puncturing cans, removing light switch plate covers and more. The handle is chemically resistant to paint and MRO environments, the company says.

The Super Heavy-Duty 25 mm blades are optimal for super thick or dense cutting applications. These industrial materials include gaskets, flexible conduit, belt synthetics, rope, leather, laminates, plastics, fiberglass, rubber and textiles.

Each 18mm OLFA Snap-Blade contains eight Ultra-Sharp cutting edges per blade.
