New James Hardie CEO takes the helm

2/4/2019
James Hardie Industries plc, the Australian building products manufacturer, said Jack Truong has officially been appointed as CEO and to the company’s board of directors.

Truong was first announced last September as the successor for James Hardie CEO Louis Greis, who officially retried on Jan. 31.

“We felt a structured transition and handover would be in the best interest of shareholders,” said James Hardie Chairman Michael Hammes. “The board thanks Louis for his leadership over the 14 years he served as the CEO of James Hardie.”

Commenting on his formal appointment, Truong said, “I would like to thank Louis and the entire James Hardie team for their commitment to a successful transition. I am excited to take on the challenge of leading the next phase of James Hardie’s growth.”

Gries has also resigned from the board of directors, effective Jan. 31.

One of Truong’s first tasks as the new CEO will be presenting James Hardie’s third quarter 2019 financial results on Feb. 5.

James Hardie’s core business is manufacturing fiber cement siding and backerboard.
