National Home Centers files for Chapter 11

National Home Centers Inc., the Springdale, Ark.-based pro dealer, filed for Chapter 11 reorganization in federal court on Dec. 8. The company listed its debts at approximately $10 million to $50 million, with assets estimated at $10 million to $50 million.

Founded in 1972, the 10-unit chain serves builders and homeowners in Arkansas, Northeast Oklahoma, Southeast Kansas and Southwest Missouri. All of its locations, including two flooring superstores, are within the state of Arkansas.

The company was founded as National Window & Supply Co., and grew steadily during the past four decades.

Documents filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Western District of Arkansas lists Guardian Building Products, Shaw Industries, Boise Building Solutions, BlueLinx and Dal-Tile among the top unsecured creditors. The company has until Dec. 22 to file a complete list of all creditors, debts, and assets, according to court records.

With $145 million in sales in 2008, National Home Centers ranked in 41st place on the Home Channel News Top 350 Pro Dealer Scoreboard. Sales in 2007 were $190 million, according to HCN data.
