McCoy’s Building Supply has promoted Ron Van Winkle to vice president of operations.

Van Winkle is a 31-year veteran of McCoy’s Building Supply who started his career as a management trainee in Waco, Texas and quickly became assistant manager of the company’s Nacogdoches store. He worked at several more locations as assistant manager before taking the helm of McCoy’s Greenville, Miss. and then the location in Georgetown, Texas.

He led the Georgetown team for a year and a half before being promoted to regional manager of 11 central Texas McCoy’s stores, where he served the company for 20 years until his promotion.

“Ron is a tenured, homegrown McCoy’s leader with a strong operational sense, outstanding people skills and a sharp focus on our customers,” said Brian McCoy, president and CEO of McCoy’s. “He is the ideal leader to shape our service where it matters the most, at our stores and on the jobsite.”

“I’ve had many mentors throughout my tenure at McCoy’s who’ve helped me get to where I am today, and I love being part of a family owned company that cares and wants more for the employees and the customers they serve,” said Van Winkle. “I’m excited for the opportunity to work alongside our talented Regional Managers serving the stores, growing existing business and expanding new business.”

Based in San Marcos, Texas, McCoy’s Building Supply is one of the nation’s largest privately held building supply retailers. The company operates 87 locations, 3 distribution facilities, and 2 millwork facilities in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi and New Mexico.
