McCoy’s exits Oklahoma location

McCoy’s Building Supply said it has closed its Lawton, Okla. store.

“It is never an easy decision to close a store, and we did not make this one lightly,” said Meagan McCoy Jones, president and COO of McCoy’s Building Supply. “The Lawton market had been challenging for a long time. It was a market with little economic or population growth.”

McCoy’s worked closely with the 11 impacted Lawton employees to determine their next steps with several of them transferring to different stores within the company.

McCoy’s continues to serve many of Lawton’s professional builders who rely on delivery service from its Duncan, Okla. location.

McCoy’s Building Supply noted that it celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2017 and has opened new stores in Montgomery, Alvin and Midlothian, Texas over the past two years.

The pro dealer is also currently building a new store in Bay City, Texas which is scheduled to open in September 2019. McCoy’s continues to remodel, upgrade and relocate existing stores and is acquiring land in growing markets for new stores, the company said.

Based in San Marcos, Texas, McCoy’s operates 87 stores, 3 distribution facilities, and 2 millwork facilities in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi and New Mexico. The company has about 2,500 employees.
