Lumber Liquidators reaches store 400
The specialty flooring retailer operates stores in 46 states and Ontario, Canada.
Lumber Liquidators is preparing to mark a company milestone when it opens its 400th store this month.
The latest location will open in Elk Grove, Calif. on June 9. Since it opened its first store in the West Roxbury neighborhood of Boston in 1994, the specialty hardwood floor retailer has grown to operate stores in 46 U.S. states and Ontario, Canada with more than 2,000 employees.
“We are grateful to our customers who have supported Lumber Liquidators over the years to contribute to our progress and growth,” said Dennis Knowles, CEO. “Having 400 stores is a testament to the company’s success in offering great quality and value, and this milestone underscores the excellent customer service and innovative styles that Lumber Liquidators provides in delivering flooring solutions for every room.”
During its expansion to 400 stores, Lumber Liquidators said it has contributed to the communities it serves through its philanthropic Lay It Forward program. This year, Lumber Liquidators is making donations to several veterans organizations and those that offer help to people with autism and other disabilities.
Masonite acquires door manufacturing divisions
Graham Manufacturing and The Maiman Company produce doors in facilities in Iowa and Missouri.
Masonite International Corporation reported that it has acquired the operating assets of the wood door companies of AADG, Inc., part of ASSA ABLOY, which includes the brands Graham Manufacturing Corporation and The Maiman Company.
Graham provides the non-residential construction industry with a full range of premium and custom grade flush wood doors. Maiman is a manufacturer of architectural stile and rail wood doors, thermal fused flush wood doors, and wood door frames.
The two divisions employ approximately 275 people located in three manufacturing facilities in Mason City, Iowa and Springfield, Mo.
Net sales for the two divisions for 2017 were approximately $70 million.
“We believe this acquisition fits well with Masonite’s existing Architectural business. Graham and Maiman will provide Masonite with an expanded footprint to better serve our customers,” said Graham Thayer, Masonite’s senior vp, architectural.
The acquisitions mark Masonite’s ninth acquisition in the last four years. Terms of this deal were not disclosed.
Based in Tampa, Masonite manufacturers interior and exterior doors for the residential new construction, the residential repair, renovation and remodeling, and the non-residential building construction markets.
