Lufkin announces availability of Control Series tapes

Lufkin, a premium tool brand from Apex Tool Group, announced that its new Lufkin Control Series tapes are now available for purchase at Home Depot stores nationwide.

The tapes provide greater control and accuracy for construction/trades, industrial, and DIY users. The Lufkin Control Series tapes feature a unique Drag Strip feature on the bottom of the tape which allows users to regulate the feed and return of the tape by applying pressure directly to the blade with their index finger. The opening is ergonomically positioned to allow maximum control while the hand and fingers remain in a natural grip around the tape. 

“The Drag Strip feature is one of the greatest design innovations in measuring tools in years,” said Tobias Bridges, product manager for Lufkin. “No other tape on the market offers this level of control, making the Lufkin Control Series a great addition to any toolbox.” 

The Lufkin Control Series’ ten-foot stand out capability and co-molded rubber grip provide comfort and durability for the toughest of applications. The extra-wide end hook holds onto corners better and makes marking easier and more precise.

Lowe’s releases responsibility report card

Lowe’s has just released its Corporate Social Responsibility Report Card, which covers education, environment and more. 

“To achieve greater progress for our communities and our company, we continue to build on our commitment to never stop improving,” said Robert Niblock, Lowe’s chairman, president and CEO. “We’re focused on carrying out those responsibilities every day with the help of our 245,000 employees across North America.” 

Lowe’s CSR website details the company’s progress in important focus areas, including the health and welfare of its workforce, support for public education and community improvement, disaster relief and environmental stewardship. 

In the area of education alone, Lowe’s pointed to several achievements:

• Lowe’s joined with the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation to support more than 8,000 community and education projects across North America. 

• Lowe’s Toolbox for Education, the company’s signature education grant program, provided nearly $5 million to fund improvements at more than 1,100 schools in 49 states. 

• Lowe’s also broadened its support of scholarships. In addition to continuing contributions to the United Negro College Fund, Thurgood Marshall College Fund and Hispanic Scholarship Fund, Lowe’s partnered with the American Indian College Fund to provide scholarships for American Indian students.

Walmart leans on Disney in paint aisle

Walmart has rolled out a new line of Disney paints and specialty finishes available exclusively at some Walmart stores.

The Disney Paint line consists of “112 exclusive colors grouped into three palettes, with imaginative Disney-themed names, designed to give parents and children options at every stage, from infant to tween,” said Jason Stewart, director of softlines product development for Disney Consumer Products. 

Colorful names from the pallete include “Eeyore’s Rain Cloud,” “Blushing Piglet,” “Cinderella’s Ball Gown” and “Sulley’s Fur.”

For more than two years, Disney Consumer Products and Glidden brand marketers collaborated on the new paint line. Backed with research that showed more than 48% of parents purchasing bedding were also planning to paint their kid’s room, the colors in the collection coordinate with Disney bedding products, according to both companies.

Glidden says it crafted kid-friendly paint performance, with easy-to-clean finishes, according to Aimee Lawlor, director of innovation for PPG Architectural Coatings, the parent company of Glidden paint. Glitter finishes and chalkboard finishes are also part of the new line.

Disney Paint at some but not all Walmart stores retails for about $13.47 per quart and $27.97 per gallon.
