By HBSDealer Staff - 04/02/2020
Mooresville, N.C.-based Lowe's introduced several new tactics to fight the coronavirus outbreak while supporting its employees. Included in the new measures are:

• A temporary $2 an hour wage increase for all full-time, part-time and seasonal hourly associates for the hours they work at Lowe’s stores, contact centers and supply chain facilities in the U.S. and Canada for the month of April;

• New “Social Distancing” ambassadors to monitor flow and help associates and customers maintain safe distancing ;

• New floor layouts to open aisle space and allow associates and customers to get the essential items they need quickly and safely;

• New app technology, available on associates’ handheld devices, to monitor foot traffic and limit entrance to prevent close contact; and

• New store hour adjustments (closing all stores at 7 p.m.) to allow for more time to thoroughly sanitize and clean stores daily.

“We are continually working on ways to protect and support our associates and our customers during this time when we are all adjusting how we work and live,” said Marvin Ellison, Lowe’s president and CEO.
