Interstate + Lakeland Lumber has officially opened the doors of its latest location in Westport, Conn.

On Dec. 2, the pro dealer held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion. Interstate + Lakeland acquired Torno Lumber & Hardware this past August and has since remodeled and updated the location.

The ceremony was attended by Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce President Matthew Mandell and Westport First Selectman Jim Marpe.

“Westport is a thriving community on the cutting edge of modernity, and Interstate + Lakeland Lumber is thrilled to be creating a high-end lumber yard worthy of the town,” Interstate + Lakeland Lumber said in a prepared statement.

Located in Fairfield County, Westport is situated on the Long Island Sound along Connecticut’s Gold Coast.

Westport marks Interstate + Lakeland Lumber’s fifth retail location, in addition to its custom millwork and distribution center in Bethel, Conn. as well as its two reload centers in Newtown, Conn. and Port Chester, N.Y.

The dealer now operates retail locations in Shrub Oak, N.Y. along with Stamford, Newtown, and Westport, Conn. in addition to its headquarters in Greenwich.

According to Interstate + Lakeland, this latest location will allow the dealer to continue making efficient deliveries of top-quality materials to builders.

“We’re excited to be bringing the Interstate + Lakeland brand to Westport, and to provide excellent service to our new and existing customers,” said Interstate + Lakeland President and CEO Sheldon Kahan.

Interstate + Lakeland Lumber was founded in 1922 by chair maker Leon Kahan. The Kahan family, now in its third generation of family ownership, continues to oversee and manages Interstate + Lakeland Lumber.
